Marine Cone Penetration Testing
|
Fugro Alluvial own and operate seabed Piezocone Penetration
Testing (PCPT) for use in water depths ranging from nearshore
shallow water projects including ports and outfalls through to
deepwater cable route projects.
The standard equipment used for the majority of our projects is
the modular Roson Unit system. This system has thrust capacities
of 2.5 to 10 tonnes, which, depending on frame weight and soil
conditions, can push a 10cm2 piezocone to depths in excess of 30m
below seabed level. A range of sensors including T bar, Ball probe
and in-situ Vane can be utilised from the Roson frame for softer
and more sensitive soils. The Roson Unit has water depth capability of 500m.
Where vessel deployment facilities limit the weight of systems, the Seahorse
coiled rod system can be offered. The system offers a compact seabed frame,
pushing 5cm2 piezocone to a maximum of 15m below seabed. The Seahorse unit
has a current water depth rating of 600m, which can be increased upon request.
For deepwater projects including cable route projects we can
offer our Deepwater PCPT system which has the capability
of pushing a 10cm2 piezocone to 2m below seabed level and
taking a 1m Push Sample. This system is currently rated to
2,000m water depth.

Where required CPT/Vibrocore combi rig can be provided
to optimise efficiency, and ensure direct comparison between
CPT and soils laboratory data.
Fugro Alluvial Offshore Limited provides PCPT services on a variety of different
projects including oil and gas pipeline route surveys, rig sites,
anchor sites, port and harbour extensions, dredging projects
and deepwater cable route surveys.
